Celebrating 10 years of Countfire

November 2022 marks the 10 year anniversary of Countfire. We are delighted to have served estimators across the world and to have made a difference to the fantastic projects our customers have worked on.

We are so proud of the industry knowledge and customer relationships we have built over the past 10 years. The aim has always been to build the future of automated estimating together and we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our customers who have helped us do just that.

From the estimators who were with us at the start, to those just discovering the benefits of automation - thank you 🙏.

Looking back at how it all started…

Long-term friends Will and Aidan met at school in New Zealand and went on to become an estimator and software developer respectively. After testing the waters with a few business ventures, including a record label, they realised the benefit technology could bring to the traditional estimating process if they brought their skills together.

They started with a consultative approach aiming to complete client’s takeoffs using automated software with a 24-hour turnaround. This was the first vision for what would later become Countfire.

A couple of years later, taking what they’ve learned from consulting on client projects, Will and Aidan built the software that allowed electrical estimators to automate their own takeoffs, moving to a “Software as a Service” model. The Countfire app (then known as Rapid Tender) was officially born!

“I knew there were others like me in the estimating industry who all had the same problem, and if we can build something to solve it, it was obvious that people would use it. Although I didn’t realise at the time just how big the market would be.”

- Will, Managing Director at Countfire

Countfire continued to evolve and in 2021, despite the difficulties faced by the industry due to COVID-19, a new phase of the software was launched with Estimate. This meant Countfire not only offered takeoffs, but became a full end-to-end estimating platform.

Meanwhile the (now fully remote) Countfire team continued to expand, with a vision to create innovative solutions and improve workflows to move the estimating industry forward.

Helping estimators worldwide

Our customers are at the heart of what we do and they’ve helped us to shape our product into an end-to-end solution for estimators across the world.

We take on board every piece of feedback about our product and this has enabled us to focus on what really matters to our customers. From creating flexible, client-ready estimates to being able to visually compare drawings across disciplines in Takeoff.

Ultimately, our goal is to help estimators level up their business and win more work, and we are delighted to hear so many Counfire customers have been making history with some truly ambitious and exciting projects.

ROC MEP, for example, used Countfire to help secure a £5.5m package to carry out lighting, small power and containment installation on the redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital, known as Brighton’s 3T’s. When finished, the development will offer the region two new buildings with state-of-the-art facilities for more than 40 wards and departments.

Furthermore, another Countfire customer TClarke worked on the complex M&E installation at the Nightingale Hospital in Exeter, helping to deliver an excellent facility to the people in the South West at the height of the pandemic, with exceptional speed and turnaround.

Incredible achievements for all those involved.

So, what’s next for Countfire?

We promise to continue to improve Countfire and shape the future of estimating with innovative technology, encouraging estimators to work smarter, not harder.

Thank you again to each of our customers for believing that automated estimating is the future. We look forward to celebrating another 10 years with you! 🔥
