We're hiring

Inbound sales development representative

About Countfire

Countfire is revolutionising the construction industry with our automated takeoff software that's transforming how electrical contractors, estimators, and construction professionals work. We're a fast-growing SaaS scale-up backed by ambitious goals and a team that's passionate about solving real-world problems with innovative technology.

Our team is lean, agile, and results-driven. We believe in empowering our people to take ownership, experiment, and grow alongside our business. When you join Countfire, you're not just taking a job – you're joining a mission to make estimators superhuman and digitally transform an entire industry.

About the role

If you are looking to enter or grow your career within B2B SaaS sales, Countfire could be the right opportunity for you.

Our sales team is made up largely of ex-estimators who know the industry inside out and handle the full sales cycle. We are now looking for a Sales Development Representative to take ownership of our inbound pipeline, improve how we handle and convert leads, and help us build a more repeatable sales motion.

You will work closely with marketing, the wider sales team and directly with head of growth, working out what works, improving the process, and freeing up our account team to focus on closing.

What kind of person are we looking for?

  • Tenacious: you don't fold after a few no's and you don't need someone standing over you to stay in motion
  • Competitive in a healthy way: you want to be top of the board and that drives you to work harder, not cut corners
  • A clear, confident communicator: on the phone, over email, in writing. You know how to move a conversation forward
  • Genuinely curious: you'll be talking to estimators and contractors who know their world inside out. You don't need to know it yet, but you need to want to
  • Coachable: you take feedback, act on it quickly, and don't need to be told twice
  • Resilient: not every lead converts and not every conversation goes your way. You shake it off and go again
  • Money motivated: you care about hitting target because of what it means for you, and you understand that your success and the business's success are interlinked
  • Self-starter: someone who enjoys shaping how things work. This is a founding SDR role with plenty of inbound leads to work with, and we want someone who will help define how we make the most of them

What will the role involve?

  • Managing inbound leads from first touch to booked discovery call, keeping the pipeline moving and nothing going cold
  • Qualifying prospects and ensuring smooth, well-briefed handoffs to the account team
  • Building a consistent, repeatable process around lead handling, follow-up, and qualification
  • Contributing to our early experiments with AI-driven sequencing, particularly for re-engaging lost and churned accounts
  • Keeping pipeline data accurate in Close.io and working with marketing on lead quality and targeting
  • Staying sharp on our product and the markets we sell into, and sharing what you learn from conversations back with the wider team

What is expected of you?

  • To act with honesty and integrity at all times
  • To be accountable to your activity targets and pipeline contribution
  • To bring consistency to how you work leads, so nothing falls through the cracks
  • To be open to feedback and act on it
  • To document what works and share it with colleagues
  • To bring sales expertise while respecting the culture you are joining. Our team are specialists who care deeply about the product and the customer. We are looking for someone who can add a new dynamic without losing what makes us work well together
  • To thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment where things are still being figured out
  • To take your own development seriously. There is real progression here for people who put the work in

What’s our tech stack?

typescript
mobx
hasura
postgresql
python
apollo
graphql
sql
flask
redis
rq
javascript
reactjs
vim
vscode
html
css
aws

Like most organisations, we use a variety of technologies to build our products. Our flagship product uses our own image recognition algorithm to instantly find things in the digital soup that is construction industry PDFs. It's built with Python (numpy), Postgres and React and has interesting backend scaling challenges due to the large amount of data we need on every request.

For our most recent architecture, we've adopted a slightly different tech stack to allow real-time syncing for collaborative features. Hasura gives us a GraphQL subscription layer over Postgres, which is transformed to MobX objects for the frontend. Around that, we've built a frontend library that allows for transactions and optimistic updates in an activerecord style for a really nice developer experience.

When we sit down to code, some of us old die-hards still cling to vim, while most others have adopted the warm embrace of VSCode. Whatever your preference, you'll be provided with the tools you most like to work with (new Macbook, display etc).
