The design and implementation of audio visual (AV) requirements is an important consideration for those looking to create modern government buildings, workspaces and educational outlets like schools and universities. 

Particularly in the current climate, AV estimators have to consider how to cater to requirements where some of the users may not even be in the physical building. When it comes to estimating an audio visual project the most obvious requirement is the amount of audio visual elements needed across the number of rooms or floors. This can be roughly split into three areas:

Screens in communal areas such as receptions and meeting rooms, departmental screens, wayfinding signage and promotional or outward facing signage such as video walls to showcase marketing materials. 

2. Control equipment 

Source and control equipment allowing both in-house AV technicians, and everyday users, to access and manage presentation screens, audio and video conferencing and lecture or theatre AV.

3. Sound and speakers

Communal audio such as music, radio or announcement speakers, as well as departmental or location-based speakers and audio conferencing equipment to ensure a two-way communication flow between physical and virtual attendees.

1. Choose an AV CAD drawing solution

AutoCAD LT

AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT (the light version) is arguably the most popular choice when it comes to AV CAD drawing. So long as you don’t need 3D modelling you should be able to get away with using AutoCAD LT which is far cheaper than its AutoCAD counterpart for 2D drawings. AutoCAD is a recognised industry solution so is often well received by clients and contractors alike.
